Time for another long overdue update. Lots of work is going into Xinha, many bugs fixed, improvements made, patches applied, translations updated and a lot of plugins added. We have several developers putting in great work, and still others helping out answering questions and solving problems in the forums with nothing less than fanatical dedication.

There is still quite a list of stuff to be done before V1.0 can be released, but only because I keep adding to the list. Xinha is for the most part "stable" in it's current state, lots of people are using it in production systems. I recommend using your favorite SVN client to do a checkout and keep yourself up to date.

If you're wanting to help we can always use your patches. Email james@… if you know a bit of javascript and are keen to help, if you're nice you'll even get subversion write access.

Xinha
The Community-built Open Source Online HTML Editor

Xinha (pronounced like Xena, the Warrior Princess) is a powerful WYSIWYG HTML editor component that works in Mozilla based browsers as well as in MS Internet Explorer. Its configurabilty and extensibility make it easy to build just the right editor for multiple purposes, from a restricted mini-editor for one database field to a full-fledged website editor. Its liberal licence makes it an ideal candidate for integration into any kind of project.

Xinha is Open Source, and we take this seriously. There is no company that owns the source but a community of professionals who just want Xinha to be the best tool for their work.

How can I get Xinha?

See the DownloadsPage.

Have you got a forum?

Yes, here it is. Please don't post bug reports, feature requests or patches in the forum, use the Ticket System for that so we can track them more efficiently.

How can I contribute to Xinha?

Do you know Javascript, are you willing to learn? Then checkout a working copy and get hacking that code! Check the tickets for feature requests that you could implement, reported bugs that you could fix. When you've got something worth contributing back to Xinha, just send it on along. Regular and proven contributors will get SVN commit access! This is one of the main reasons Xinha split from htmlArea, the htmlArea development was not open to fair and equal participation by all developers. Xinha is different, we are a group of developers trying to produce the best WYSIWYG HTML Editor available.

I don't know Javascript!

That's ok, we do. Some other ways you might contribute are to sponsor development of Xinha plugins, or donate some cash to one of the Xinha developers.
