Stop the editor "breaking" with bad code

Is it possible to have the editor automatically drop into HTML editor when the browser is going to "break" from bad HTML?

For example, if there's an additional </tr> tag, then the editor will spin continually and never load.

Maybe a time-out of about 20 or 30 seconds, if the browser isn't complete, then drop it down into the HTML editor.

Does that make sense?

This would be a browser issue. Javascript is not threaded and thus we have no way of doing that.
