Once you click the link button you can no longer see what you're linking.

Click the link icon without a selection. It should display a "you must first select something" error message instead of the link panel.

Related, the difficulty with the link panel is that once you've made a selection and clicked link you can no longer see what you're linking ... a minor UI issue. It might be nice to display the highlighted text in the link panel somehow.

Perhaps it would be better to link the "word" under the carat (if there is one).

changeset:26 solves the first problem.

The second problem is more troublesome though because the user could select more than just some short text. They might select a full paragraph, images, some huge table, anything.

Open to suggestions on that.
