Description

Embedding a library like jQuery (which is small and has a compatible license) could really simplify Xinha code and enable some more advanced interface options. (Like dragging and dropping in dialogs).

No, not in the core.

  • selection of any particular javascript library will cause problems for people who use an alternative library on the same page where Xinha is used. Eg, jQuery vs. Mootools.

In plugins it's fine, people can choose to use a plugin, or not use a plugin, up to them. but we don't want to force people into using a certain library.

I personally use mootools, bringing jQuery into the core would mean I could no longer use Xinha (or would have to embark on a major rewrite of lots of stuff).

NB: For plugins to use a library is fine, and the library could go into /contrib/ so that plugins can share access to it.
