iPhone support?

Has anyone discussed the possibility of supporting the iPhone / iPod Touch yet? That would be extremely handy, and I think my company would put some developer time toward this goal if there's a likelihood of the changes being merged into the next release. Anyone have any advice or guidance? Where would you start on a task like this?

I don't think it's been considered (don't even know if the iPhone Safari supports such things), but any and all developer's are more than welcome to give it a go!

If you'd like SVN access and a branch to develop in drop me a line to james@…, if you get it working without breaking any existing browsers then it would definately be merged into the trunk!

As for "where would you start", see the "Webkit" module which Xinha's browser compatability layer for Safari. If iPhone Safari is also based around a full version of Webkit (don't know if it is) then in theory, it should work, or at least be a good place to start from.

Xinha on the iPhone would be awesome. I suspect the biggest obstacle is that I don't think Mobile Safari supports contentEditable, though I could be wrong here.

I'd be happy to lend a hand, if you (or anyone else at your company) are still interested in seeing if this is feasible. If you did get this working, it would definitely be merged into trunk and put in an official release.
