It would be very useful to have a simple web server for developing against without requiring a sperate installation.

I've written a simple python test server to make life easier for developers, or users wishing to demo it locally. The only downside is it requires python (which comes on linux and os x), but it's better than not having a server at all... If you guys are okay with it, I'll commit this to trunk...

I see two downsides: 1. It has to be place in the root folder, where I find it distracting. I would rather like to see it in contrib 2. Obviously no PHP plugins will work

But if you find it useful and you think others might, too, go for it.

Another thing, would you mind not to start all your tickets with "It would be nice to...". It's easier to keep track if the first few words are more distinct :)

I'm gonna change the script to be runnable from contrib, and then I'll commit it there...

r1014 adds the contrib version of this test server... It'll run correctly whether you start it form root or contrib...
